They say once trust is broken, it can never be fully fixed.

They say that once trust is broken by someone we had faith in, it becomes even harder to trust someone else.

True, one can easily want to give up trusting others after this happens, and reasonably so. By refusing to trust again, we feel more secure, we feel protected, knowing that if we do not trust, we won’t get hurt again.

Personally I have had many issues with trust. I have found myself thinking I should stop trusting altogether, so as not to go through painful experiences in my life. Yet I have come to realise something…

See, I have realised that by trying to protect myself from being hurt again, I may give up experiences that can help me grow.

Okay, so I know that nobody would like to risk getting hurt. Yet no experience is void. Each person that comes into our lives, whether we are treated right or wrong, we will still learn. If a person treats us wrongly, we get to realise that we need to work on self love, to increase our self worth. A lesson in itself. I believe that whatever comes to us is a reflection of how we see ourselves. If we do not treat ourselves right, if we do not nurture ourselves and the bodies we are in, then how can we expect to be treated right?

This post has been actually inspired by a song I woke up with in my head yesterday…Once Upon A Dream from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, which video I will embed at the bottom of this post…and if you have been following my blog for quite some time now, you surely know that most of my inspirations come to me like this 😉

Although the song itself doesn’t talk about trust, what struck me most was the first part, when Aurora says, “I’m not supposed to talk to strangers, but we met before”…

This sentence reminds me of the voice of the soul…

I truly believe that if we listen to the voice inside our hearts, the voice of our soul, we learn to trust again no matter how hard issues of trust have been on us in the past.

We trust all the time. We trust that the Universe provides us with all that we need. We trust so much that we do not worry about whether our next breath will be there after the current one, because we know that it will be there. We do not even realise how many breaths we take daily, because we take it all forgranted, because we trust.

If we learn to live in the moment and go with the flow of life, we will not worry about whether we should trust or not, because we know that whatever life throws at us is for our own highest good. Because we know that with every experience comes a lesson, and with every lesson we gain wisdom.

So if you are one who are at a dilemma right now, finding it hard to let yourself go with the flow, and finding it hard to trust again, think about it. Go back through your life so far. Think about how many wonderful people you have met and have been blessed with because you trusted. Then think about situations that have hurt you. True, you may have had a hard time getting back up after being hurt, yet you are alive and you are stronger, for you have learnt to value yourself even more due to having gone through that pain. And if you feel you have learned nothing from such experiences, think about it again and find the lesson there was within.

Most of the lessons we incarnate here on earth to learn from, will still keep happening over and over again until we learn whatever lessons we were supposed to take from them. This is in fact why sometimes we meet people who complain that the same experience keeps happening over and over again to them with just different persons. It happens because the lesson they should be learning hasn’t been uncovered yet.

So next time you find yourself in a dilemma whether you should trust or not, find some quiet time, sit or lie down, relax, close your eyes and think…should I trust him/her? Then listen to what your soul tells you. If you feel you should, trust your gut and go for it.

Time will tell…it could be a new experience that will uncover an important lesson for you that will help you grow…

Or it may evolve into something so beautiful, so magical, so unique, that time will feel like it has stopped for you so you can experience the total bliss that you have always dreamt of having for yourself. When that happens, consider it a gift from the Universe for having allowed yourself to trust again.

Once Upon a Dream
From “Sleeping Beauty”
Music by Tchaikovsky
Lyrics by Sammy Fain and Jack Lawrence

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
Yet I know it’s true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you’ll do
You’ll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream

But if I know you, I know what you do
You love me at once
The way you did once upon a dream

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it’s true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you’ll do
You’ll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream
