Are you a Lover or a Fighter?

Are you a lover or a fighter?

This is an article I have wrote some time ago for an Indian newsletter which I thought I should also share with you all…enjoy 🙂

lover or fighter - bullied girlAashika, a beautiful five year old girl, should be a bundle of joy…instead she is worried. She is on her way to fetch water from a nearby river but knows that as soon as she steps into that particular path, Haatim, an older boy, will start calling her names. Lately he is also been aggressive towards her as well and she is now frightened. She can’t tell her mum and dad because he threatened to harm her and her baby brother, so she keeps it to herself.

Not long ago she had heard her mum talk to a friend about Haatim, and her mum had said that he is a troubled boy who has been through a hard time, having been abused, whatever that means. Aashika wishes to do something about it but she cannot talk. She also knows this “poor boy” has been through a lot. Aashika forgives him because she doesn’t want to harm him any more than he has already been harmed in his life, so she keeps all this to herself, because let’s face it, shouldn’t she just be a lover? And definitely NOT a fighter?

Haatim on the other hand considers himself to be a fighter, and he is proud of it. He wants to show every other kid that he is the boss in that particular area, and that he is tough. He is capable of doing anything he wants. All it takes is a twist of an arm, a punch in the face…

Truth is, no one should be just a lover, and no one should be just a fighter!

Without knowing, Aashika is encouraging Haatim to keep on bullying her, day after day, by not taking action, by just being a lover, while Haatim is acquiring more and more power over Aashika and the other kids by being a fighter. Aashika doesn’t even realize that she is enduring emotional and physical abuse by Haatim because she keeps excusing his actions.

We are all humans, we are all equal, no matter the colour, no matter our abilities, no matter what ‘thing’ we may have that makes us feel bad about ourselves. We are all one and the same.

We also need to find a balance between the lover and the fighter within us.

The ‘lover’ within us helps us be empathic towards those in pain, understanding towards those who need to express themselves, compassionate towards those who need a shoulder to cry on, caring towards those who we can heal emotionally or physically, loving towards those whose past has hurt them beyond repair.

The ‘fighter’ within us has nothing to do with bullying others around. Bullying or abusing others doesn’t make us tough, it makes us bad people who need help. Quite the contrary, the ‘fighter’ within us helps us to stand up for what we believe in wherever we see injustice, be strong when life gets tough, courageous when there seems to be a dead end, encouraging to those who feel abandoned, respectful towards ourselves and others.

So, how about you? Are you a lover? Or a fighter? Have you found the balance between these two within you yet? Be truthful to yourself.

balance - lover or fighterIf you are just a lover, find the other half within you. Do not accept any type of abuse to be done onto you. To respect others fully you need to be able to have self respect first. Do not fear. You have the power within you to find the strength to stand up for yourself. Remember that any type of abuse can never be excused, no matter the circumstances. No one should ever EVER blame you for being the cause of abuse.

Finding a balance between the lover and the fighter within you will make you complete. If we all seek to do to others what we would want to be done to ourselves, the world would be a much better and safer place for each and every one of us. No one is inferior, we are all one big family, brothers and sisters, so let us all love and respect each other and be strong for those who can’t find the fighter within them.

india gang rape victim daminiIndia gang rape victim ‘Damini’ unfortunately succumbed to her injuries nearly two weeks after that fateful day. The 23 year old medical student sustained serious internal injuries after being violated with an iron bar during about an hour long sexual assault on a bus on 16th December 2012 in Delhi India, prior to being thrown out of the moving bus along with her friend.

Six men have since been charged with murder of this India gang rape victim, and currently the authorities are said to be pressing for the harshest possible punishment. Mass demonstrations have been going on by protesters to show their outrage against sexual violence.

India’s Gang Rape Victim Damini…or is she?

Before I proceed I must warn you that firstly I am not from India and not familiar with traditions, culture etc, and secondly, this article is based on my own personal views, insights and beliefs.

That aside, when I started following this case I was quite intrigued when I found out that the name Damini is not the victim’s real name. Personally I can understand that a living victim’s name is held as confidential, but I believe a victim who has succumbed due to such a horrible crime SHOULD be named. I see this would be a step towards a safer India with a more compassionate attitude. Should this girl’s name be publically announced, she won’t be just a memory, but a stronger reason to work towards a better India.

Apart from keeping her name secret, I was also shocked to hear that the victim was flown to Singapore rather than treated in her own country. We are talking about a patient who not only endured such a hideous act, but who had had organ failure, brain injury, infection, as well as a cardiac arrest. Why move such patient to a different location?

To add insult to injury, after her passing, India ‘s ‘Braveheart’, as she is also being called, has been flown back to India and cremated at night, not even brought back to her own village as is the custom. Secrecy? Why?

India Gang Rape Incidents & Traits

india gang rape victim daminiI do understand that India has a different culture than the one I’m accustomed to, me being Maltese…however I do feel that this case has highlighted multiple issues that have to be dealt with as soon as possible, as I believe that currently, the Indian culture centres a lot around ‘shame’ in such cases.

Whilst researching this case, I have found a lot of information about how such cases are treated in India. For example, I have read multiple times that girls are taught how to protect themselves from being raped…but shouldn’t boys be equally taught to respect girls as much as they respect themselves and NOT rape?

Another issue is how rape cases in India are dealt with. Young women in India who are courageous enough to report gang rape incidents have been subjected to internal finger checkups by doctors so it can be established whether the victim is habitual to sexual intercourse. Isn’t this also violation of women’s rights? Is the abuser being punished for the act, or the victim being harassed about it?

Shame plays a heavier role, or so I have found during researching this case. Reportedly, victims of rape in India are most often asked to choose between dropping charges or marrying the abuser or one of the attackers in the case of gang rape.

Some politicians have even dared to say that rape victims are to blame for their “adventurous spirit”. How can anyone deserve such an abusive act?

Let’s take one step back here…

A while ago a 17 year old young woman has also been gang raped and eventually committed suicide. She had reported the incident and was harassed by the police for around a month. Did she deserve this?

But there is more…just this week, a two year old girl has been raped by her own uncle. She also succumbed and passed away later on. To these politicians who believe that rape victims are to blame…did this little innocent two year old deserve this?

Rape is not about sex. It is about power. It is about that feeling where the abuser feels powerful over another human being. It is about seeing another human being at mercy. It is about lack of compassion towards another. It is about lack of equality between us as humans.

Should India Gang Rape Rapists Be Executed?

india gang rape victim daminiAgain, this is my personal opinion. I do understand that those closer to this case feel that rage inside them, making them ask for execution for these rapists. However, should a crime be solved with another crime?

I believe that by executing a murderer or a rapist in this case, India won’t be tackling the issue from its core, thus the issue will not be solved.

I believe India needs a different approach to this dilemma. For starters, rape crimes have to be taken more seriously. It takes much courage for a young woman to survive a rape assault, let alone admit to someone including police or authorities that she had been raped. Such women should not only be listened to, but also be provided free councelling and support to help with the aftermath of rape.

In addition to this, a new approach from the Indian public should be taken, particularly by women. A victim should not be bound to keep such incidents as hidden or secret. It is the abuser who should feel shameful and not the victim.

Awareness is the key here. I plead to all Indian women who have suffered abuse to report rape cases. One voice may not be enough, but a collective plea can be easily heard. Do not be afraid to make your voice heard.

Another thing that should be worked upon is equality between women and men. Indian women should not live in fear of going out in the evening because of the possibility of being raped. Authorities should work on increasing the amount of police going undercover in the evenings in areas prone to such incidents, and arrest anyone or any gang acting suspiciously towards women.

I also do believe that proper sexual education should be taught to both boys and girls at schools. Here in Malta we start educating kids from the age of 10. Equality should be mostly emphasised, as should also respect to both women and men. If sexual respect is taught from such a young age in India, tomorrow’s young women won’t be afraid of going out any more.

As for sexual offenders who are found guilty of sexual assault / rape, I wouldn’t suggest execution, since like I mentioned above, I don’t believe that by murdering a murderer or a criminal, the issue itself is ever solved. However I do believe in life sentencing with no chance for parole. In addition, with such harsh cases as this one was, I would impose weekly or monthly reporting to the police or a parole officer and possibly occasional evaluation of the ex-criminal to ensure that there is no possibility of the same crime being repeated again by the same person. Having been in prison for an x amount of years doesn’t necessarily mean that the criminal is reformed.

india gang rape victim daminiIt is now up to you reading this article. If you have the power in your hands to save India’s women in some way, whether you are a police officer in India, or a politician, or in a similar position, I humbly ask you to think about this. India gang rape victim Damini has been silenced, her body not only sexually assaulted and violated, but also burned to ashes. You reading this, do not choose to keep Damini’s voice in ashes. Let her cries echo within your heart and do what is best for India…Let her speak through your actions, by making India a safe place irrespective of whether you are male or female.

We are all brothers and sisters, we are all one. Let India’s gang rape victim Damini shine a light in each and every one of India’s residents that unites all as one through equality, compassion, respect, love and harmony.

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Me?

woman on bench in rain“Why do bad things happen to me? Why am I always the most unfortunate? Why can’t I be happy and lucky like all other people I know? Why always me?”

If you’re like me, you may have come to wonder the exact same as mentioned above at times. The answer is so easy, yet it takes time to sink in! Don’t worry though, as by the time you read this till the end, you will have all the answers to the questions above, and you will also be able to change your life into a more “lucky” and happier one by applying what I’ll be sharing with you here 🙂

Why do bad things always happen to me?

Uptil a couple of months ago I used to cry my eyes out, feeling bad about all things happening in my life. I used to pity myself, feel miserable, and when having to talk about my sadness, I used to pour out negative situations that I had previously experienced in my life which made me feel even more desperate, wondering even more “why me?”…

At one point, a dear friend of mine told me that I was almost enjoying playing the “victim” part. At that time I was almost angry with my friend for not being compassionate towards my lack of luck in life. I mean I was unlucky, I was suffering…how could he not understand?

It was months later, after I started working towards growing spiritually, that I started understanding it all. Among many old beliefs that I started seeing through different light was the concept of The Law Of Attraction. To explain in simple terms how The Law Of Attraction works, imagine that whatever we do triggers a reaction. If for example I am feeling angry, I am firing invisible bullets to the Universe, of anger. What we sow we reap, thus by firing anger bullets, I will eventually be creating other anger issues which will be fired back at me later on.

In my own case, I was pitying myself, feeling bad, feeling sad…the more negative bullets I was firing, the more similar feelings I kept experiencing. Why? Because I was reaping what I was emotionally sowing. It is a vicious cycle, which cannot be broken UNLESS we change our point of view and the way we view life in general!

How can I change my point of view if everything around me goes wrong every time?

miraclesFollow these simple steps and you will see a drastic change in just a few hours!

  1. TRUST: Have faith in this whole process. Think about it. Did worrying ever solve you a problem? Did it ever make things better? I am sure the answer is no. So I am also sure you can agree with me that by worrying, no good can come about. So have faith that from now on, all is okay. Draw a line on the past…the time is now. There is no past, no future. Live in the moment and make the best of it today.
  2. EXPLORE: When something wrong comes up, do not ponder upon the negativity within it. Do not pity yourself. Instead, trust that there is something good in it. Seek that tiny grain of positivity that you can find within that situation and focus on it. Even though it may seem all wrong, something good is always there! Search for that diamond in the rough, that stream in the dry desert, that beautiful rose amongst thorns, that rainbow in the storm. Seek till you find it and focus on it. Count your blessings. Always explore the situation with an open, positive mind. There may be a lesson for you amongst the negative situation, that is there to help you through. Sometimes life keeps bringing up bad situations over and over, simply because we are not open to learn the lessons behind it. Once you do find that lesson and learn from it, you may be amazed that it won’t happen again!
  3. ACCEPT: Accept that whatever happens is for your highest good. Even though you cannot understand why as of yet, you will understand it as time goes by. You will understand it once you open up yourself to the Divine and the Big Picture. Our experiences are all part of the Big Picture which we may not fully understand now, but when we trust in The Source, we know that all is for our highest good.
  4. MOVE ON: Once you accept, embrace and learn from a bad situation, move on. Focus on having a positive mindset. Remember that what you reap you sow, so the more you think positively, the more positivity is sent your way.

Now, notice the first letter of all 4 steps:

We as human beings form a big team, we are all part of this game called life. We are here to learn from our mistakes. If we fall, we have to find the strength within us and get back up on our feet to continue playing in this game. We all have a part in this game. What we do with the time on the playing field is up to us alone, but our actions have an impact on the other players and the results of this game.

It is now up to you how you act on the playing field…when you fall down, do not worry on the dirt that soils your clothing, or the pain in your knees, but look next to you…you will find others who are on your same playing field, who are extending their hands to help you up on your feet again…count your blessings, look up to the score board and say, “Yes I can do it, I can rise again!”

You can, just believe it and you will!

Love & Light to you & yours,

new world new startThis morning whilst on the Gozo Ferry, I witnessed the most beautiful dawn as the sun was slowly making its way into the early blue sky. A fresh breeze whisked by my face and as I gazed at this amazing miracle of a new dawning day, I heard two lines from a song being sung to me by Spirit through clairaudience. When I talk about Spirit, I mean that voice inside my heart, my intuition. Quieting the mind allows me to open up to the voice of the Divine through the stillness of my mind. All I heard at the time were the words “it’s a new day, it’s a new life” but had no clue what the whole song was all about, let alone the name of the song itself. I knew however that I needed to find the song to go through the lyrics as I knew there had to be a special message within them since they were given to me by Spirit.

Thanks to a childhood friend of mine who actually friended me on facebook just a couple days ago, I got the name of the song I had been pondering for all morning…Here I Am by Phil Collins, which is a soundtrack from the animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

The name of the song itself has a very special meaning to me, as I know that ‘Here I Am‘ was in fact what I have chosen as a motto in my last past life, a past life that I have a lot of memories from and which I was lucky enough to find documented as well within history itself. That aside however, Spirit Soundtrack Here I Am by Phil Collins has an even more amazing message within it, which also ties to the very present time that we are living within now, right after the Energy Shift of Consciousness has occurred end 2012.

spirit-stallion-of-the-cimarronThe song talks about the current time being exactly where we should be. This is a New World, which lightworkers like me know and can feel is vibrating at a higher vibrational level now, alive with the beating of young hearts who let go of past negative influences and now function through love and harmony.

Here I Am also talks about us having just begun after all this time, this waiting. We have all been waiting for so long to assist in the changing of the world into a better place, through a collective effort from all humanity.

Like I mentioned in a previous post I wrote about the End 2012 Energy Shift and its effects on us lightworkers, some of us may have wondered why do we have to be here at this time? Why should we be the ones to work on making our world a better one? Why not just exist and enjoy life without any global worries?

If you were one who like me wondered “why me”, it is because we have chosen to be here before we reincarnated in this lifetime…we chose to be part of this period of time to help make the necessary changes into this world. Alone we may not make a change, but with a collective effort and faith in the whole healing process, then we CAN make this change, just as we were destined to do even before we were born.

Here I Am is what Spirit wanted me to share with you today, it’s an extension to my previous post to help you and me understand why we are here right here, right now. We can help make the necessary change within Mother Earth, we can help balance our world again by working on thinking in a positive way, so as to emit positivity around us. Spread love, spread compassion, spread peace, and you will be blessed with more love, compassion and peace yourself, whilst making this world a better place for us and the generations to come.

The time has come….it’s a New World, it’s a New Start…Here I am!

Lightworkers Unite After The End 2012 Energy Shift

41574_272366049656_4648749_n-1Many have been anticipating 21st December 2012, some even feared that the end of the world was to occur at this date. It came and went. For some it meant nothing. For others who are more sensitive and open to energy, this day, along with its surrounding period, had a whole new meaning.

An energy shift occured within the earth’s vibrational frequency, which has been raised. This didn’t occur in just one day, but throughout a period of time, maximising itself around the 21st. For those who are ‘sensitive’ to energy, life may have felt even more challenging lately, with amounting emotions, various thoughts, complex thinking on global issues, different sleeping patterns…at times it feels like our moods leap from one extreme to another in a very short time. Deep down we feel like something is calling out to us, something very urgent which we may not clearly know details of, but which still feels urgent.

This is what has been called ‘spiritual awakening‘ or ‘consciousness shift‘. It is now that we start to vibrate within a higher frequency level where we are more concerned with our inner core than with our human body. We evolve beyond fear, violence and all negative aspects within the human world. We grow into beings with an enlightened state of mind where we strive for peace, harmony and compassion for one another and for Mother Earth.

With the end of 2012 came the end of a long process, thus the change is not an instant one, but a collective process where many of us have experienced a lot of turmoil, leading to a different, more positive point of view. Hypothetically, now that end 2012 has passed, enough individuals have reached a higher level of consciousness, which eventually has a chain reaction effect, bringing the rest of humanity within the same level of consciousness.

End 2012 Energy Shift and its Possible Effects On You

It is completely normal at this particular period of time that we find ourselves facing past issues, until we embrace them and move forward from them. We may also find ourselves in a dilemma, not knowing which path to choose, through fear of the unknown. As we move towards a higher level of consciousness we need to let go of fear and function through love and faith instead. This doesn’t only happen on a personal level, but also on a global level, where Mother Earth is cleansing itself from collective toxins.

Along with negative issues that we have been increasingly having to deal with, we may also be experiencing increasing intuitive abilities, more compassion, feeling more in harmony with nature, experiencing Divine guidance and support, more understanding of both positive and negative issues through the knowledge that all is part of the Big Picture. We become more in tune with the Divine, and as we do, we experience more coincidences, otherwise known as synchronicities, occurring in our lives, as we feel a deep connection with the Divine within us.

Lightworkers Unite

lightworkers uniteIf you have been reading this article, you are probably within and part of this global change of cosmic enlightenment. You are here for a reason. Our task as lightworkers at this time is to help spread enlightenment and bringing up others towards this higher vibrational frequency that we are already within.

Through this ‘consciousness shift‘, the Natural Laws are now more powerful and more apparent. The Law of Attraction, being one of the Natural Laws, causes what we think about to become reality. Thus, the more peace and harmony we feel blessed with, the more we experience. On the other hand, the more anger, hatred, jealousy expressed within humanity, the more it manifests among us.

It is now even more important than ever to be self aware of what we wish, what we think, as individuals. If we function through destructive behaviour, we cause more destruction. Being self aware we need to focus on functioning through love, peace and harmony, so that more love, peace and harmony is spread within humanity, and within the earth in general.

Lightworkers, we need to unite, both individually and also collectively, to help spread light to one another. We need to share what we have learned and are still learning, so that we help raise the vibrations of each of us collectively. We need to stay in tune with our inner selves and share love and light so that we can rise together and help make this world a better place to live in, where we are more compassionate towards each other’s needs, and help Mother Earth heal itself and shine again as the beautiful Garden of Eden it once was.
